Naval Aviator Monument - WW1
Details:
On the grounds of the former NAS Moutchic.
An obelisk about 3 meters high surrounded by 4 granite blocks with wrought iron anchors at each corner linked with an iron chain. The name of nine US Naval aviators are commemorated on the monument. The text is engraved into the obelisk, and the names are also reproduced on a plastic plaque on the base.

by officers and men
of the US Naval Air Station le Moutchic in memory
of the number of those who lost their lives here for
their Country & Humanity.
It was renovated in 2017 for the
Memorial Day
the US Naval Air Station le Moutchic
was established on this space from June 1917
to November 1918 by the United State Navy.
Nine pilots and sailors
whose names are carried on this stele, erected in 1919,
died in flight learning
or during their ground mission
Three pilots who stayed at the Moutchic
gave their lives in combat
in the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea
