Jack Walton Williams was born on January 18, 1923, in Altus, Jackson County, Oklahoma. He was the son of Anna Mae and Henry Jefferson Williams. He was married to Bertha Viola "Johnnie" Johnson Williams. He graduated from Moore High School in the Class of 1940 and later moved to Oklahoma City, where he began working at Walgreens. He served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

After the war, he worked for the Rexall Drug Company before accepting a position as Non-Foods Manager with Eagle Thrifty, which brought the family to Reno in 1960. Following a long and successful retail career, Jack ventured into business ownership. In 1975, he and Johnnie opened Nevada’s first Coast to Coast Hardware store. Jack later retired from retail and pursued a career in real estate, remaining an active member of the Reno/Sparks Association of Realtors until his passing. He died on March 14, 2013, and is now buried in the Mountain View Cemetery, Reno, Washoe County, Nevada, USA.
