Angelo “Andy” Randes was born on August 21, 1922, in New York, New York County, New York. He was the son of Louis Randes and Frances Randes. He was married to Catherine Marie Randes. He served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

PFC Randes owned and operated Richmond Auto Body in Newark, New Jersey, for 35 years. He died on December 21, 2004, and is now buried at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, Merced County, California, USA.
