James Boyd “Tiny” Lowrance was born on January 12, 1924, in Kerens, Navarro County, Texas. He was the son of Robert Leon Lowrance and Lottie Lee Lowe Lowrance. He was married to Nancy Lowrance. He served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

James was a lifelong member of American Legion Post 511. He was also a longtime volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital, dedicating much of his time to helping fellow veterans. He died on July 22, 2005, and is now buried in the Restland Memorial Park, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA.
