Gerard C. Lange was born on January 30, 1920. He was married to Margaret Burris Lange. 1Lt Lange served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

Following his military service, he worked for the New York Telephone Company for 40 years before retiring in 1985. He was a founding member of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament in Valley Stream, where he resided for 53 years, and served as past president of the Blessed Sacrament Athletic Association and the Valley Stream Mail League. He died on May 30, 2002, and is now buried in the Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
