Rudolph DeWayne “RD” Bridges was born on July 29, 1925, in Ben Franklin, Delta County, Texas. He was the son of Warren Henry Bridges and Bessie Lorene Shelton Bridges. He was married to Mary Marcelene Bennett Bridges. T5 Bridges served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

After the war, he built a career in construction as a carpenter and project manager, retiring in 1989. In addition to his professional life, he was active in his community, calling and teaching square dancing from the early 1960s and serving as a master Mason. T5 Bridges died on April 24, 2010, and is now buried in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, USA.
