Neill T. Stancheff was born on July 13, 1926, in Ohio. He was the son of Peter Stancheff and Charlotte Tunhorst Stancheff. He graduated from North College Hill High School. PFC Stancheff served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

PFC Stancheff was killed in action on May 1, 1945. He is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
