Ralph Derward Rogers was born on August 14, 1922, in Maud, Bowie County, Texas. He was the son of Charlie Clinton Rogers and Viola Marie "Ola" McClurg Rogers. He enlisted in the service on February 22, 1943. Pvt Rogers served in the United States Army with the 740th Tank Battalion in World War II. Known as the “Daredevil Tankers”, the 740th was a separate battalion that fought from Utah Beach all the way to the Baltic Sea in support of various divisions of the US war effort.

Pvt Rogers was killed in action on March 8, 1945, in Germany. He is now buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery and Memorial, Henri-Chapelle, Arrondissement de Verviers, Liège, Belgium.
