First Division Monument - Wadelincourt
Details:
On the west side of the D-6, 1 km south of Wadelincourt. Indicated by a sign in both directions. Monument A large concrete stele supporting an eagle sculpture affixed with the Division logo, as well as large bronze plaques listing 212 missing and killed in the area.
Wadelincourt, commemorates the casualties of the final First Division battle of the war for the city of Sedan where 80 First Division soldiers were killed and 503 wounded.

Operation Against the Line of the Meuse
On the morning of November 6, 1918, the First Division AEF attacked from the line Besace-Beaumont, and drove the enemy across the river between Autrecourt and Villemontry. The Division, during the night of the 6-7 Nov continued its attack and occupied the heights overlooking Sedan from St Aignan to this point. Losses: Killed 80, Wounded 503 General Order # 201, GHQ AEF, Nov 10th 1918 "The Commander in Chief hast noted in this division a special pride of service and a high state of morale never broken by hardship nor battle."
