General George S. Patton Jr. Bust Memorial

MonumentA stone bust memorial dedicated to General George S. Patton Jr., mounted on a tall stone pedestal with a bronze commemorative plaque and set upon a square concrete base. It was erected to honor General Patton and the American forces of the U.S. Third Army that liberated Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry on August 22, 1944, and subsequently crossed the Seine River at nearby sites during the Allied advance across France. Overlooking the route leading to the historic Seine River crossing points, the memorial was inaugurated by General Charles de Gaulle on July 3, 1949. In 1969, an additional commemorative plaque was installed to mark the 25th anniversary of the Liberation.
