Translation:
Someone Will Come
This poem recounts the final thoughts of Lieutenant Burt Christie Wyman as his aircraftshot down by the enemyplummets toward a crash.
He speaks of the fear he feels at the thought that no one might ever find him, and that he might remain alone for all eternity, forgotten by everyone.
Today, he can take comfort in knowing that his grave is adorned with flowers.
For the Record:
It was not until more than 70 years after his disappearance that his family was finally able to locate his burial site (at the Epinal American Cemetery).
It was not until 2015 that the exact location of the crash site was identified.
Poem:
Someone will come
cold
and a fast-blast-crash took my soul
no this kiss-pleas-prayers in the seconds to silence to wonder will someone come
no reasons, forevers
or a maybe-till-when-as we wait in this no night no light space
for someone to come
sure
ribbons and
boxed and beautiful flags passed
while we wonder the us
of ones of rows on rows of those not knowing will someone come
and then a yes a care passed and I am here with flowers
Agatha Wyman
