10th Armored 'Tiger' Division Mosel Crossing Monument- Battle for Metz

In the small park in the center of the roadway.
MonumentA large upright engraved stone with an engraved black marble piece at the monument base.
The memorial remembers the 10th 'Tiger' Armored Division's first combat action that occurred here in November 1944 as it crossed the Mosel (Moselle) river at this bridge and commenced an attack as part of the Battle for Metz as part of General Patton's drive on Germany during the Lorraine campaign.
The memorial was dedicated in 2016.

On the upright monument:
IN HONOR OF

"TIGER" DIVISION
On the base plaque:
The U.S. 10" Armored. Division Tigers commenced their first major combat operation from this area on 14
November 1944 as they drove to envelop Metz from the north.
Combat Command A crossed the pontoon bridge over the Moselle River at Malling and advanced
toward Bouzonville.
Combat Command B crossed the Bailey bridge at Thionville and attacked toward Kerling.
By the end of November the Tigers had reached the base of the Saar-Moselle Triangle and became the first unit of General Patton's 3'" Army to cross the German border.
