Commemorative ObjectA rotor blade mounted on a stone base serves as a symbol of the CH-47A Chinook helicopter (serial number 66-19023) that crashed on August 18, 1971.
On 21 June 2021, the U.S. Army 12th Combat Aviation Brigade presented the CH-47 Chinook rotor blade to the people of Pegnitz at a ceremony on Pegnitz Airfield, Germany, for inclusion in the Memorial Site in preparation for a ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the crash.
