An inscribed field stone.
The memorial remembers B-17 (42-37718) of the 368th Bomber Squadron, 306th Bomber Group which was shot down on a mission to Gydina, Poland on October 9, 1943.
One of the Crew, Sergeant Douglas Farris was KIA. All the others survived and were taken POW.
The crew included:

Co-pilot: Miles McCormack,
Navigator: Carl Groesbeck,
Bombardier: Bill Hewitt,
Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Harry Hall,
Radio Operator: Bill Skahan,
Ball turret gunner: Henry Kozier,
Waist gunner: Fred Nabors,
Tail gunner: Bill Barton,
Waist gunner: Douglas Farris (KIA)
