Monument
A granite stone monument commemorating First Lieutenant Rudolph Marko of the 368th Fighter Group who was Killed in Action on August 1, 1944. The monument was inaugurated on June 9, 2018, and is written in French and English.
On August 1, 1944, First Lieutenant Rudolph L. Marko piloted P-47 Thunderbolt #42-75178 during a mission with the 368th Fighter Group to strafe German vehicles near the former commune of Saint-Sever-Calvados, now part of Noues-de-Sienne. While executing the attack, his aircraft struck trees causing it to explode on impact around 7:15 PM. The crash instantly claimed 1Lt Marko's life.
