A cenotaph of Sergeant Douglas A. Farris who was a crewman on
B17 (42-37718) of the 368th Bomber Squadron, 306th Bomber Group which crashed near Alstrup on Samso Island, Denmark on October 9, 1943. The B-17 was returning from a mission to Gdynia (Poland). Sgt Farris was KIA; the other crew members were taken as POWs.
