Monument


The memorial consists of several monuments and markers, commemorative plaques, as well as a large commemorative panel, and a memorial wall on which an information panel is mounted. The memorials are dedicated to the memory of the 75 American soldiers of the 6th Armored Division who fell during the fight for the liberation of Plabennec and Plouvien on August 8 and 9, 1944. You can also find here dedicated monuments for General Patton and Major General Robert Walker Grow. Included on this page will be the three steles on the site.

HOMMAGE À NOS LIBÉRATEURS

 

Ici, sur site de Lormeau, le mardi 8 Août 1944,

des unites de la 6é D.B. - U.S.

arrêtées dans leur marche pour la prise de Brest,

vont subir un pilonnage d'artillerie allemande.

Les pertes américaines seront lourdes :

43 tués, une centaine de blessés,

30% des véhicules  détruits...

were subjected to German artillery shelling.

American losses were heavy:

43 killed, around a hundred wounded,

30% of vehicles were destroyed...
