Hans A. Movik was born on June 12, 1906. He emigrated to the US in 1926 and lived in New York. He served in Company B, 99th Infantry Battalion (Separate), as a Private First Class during World War II. PFC Movik died on September 17, 1944, in Belgium, at the age of 38, and is now buried in the Solheim Cemetery in Bergen, , Norway. He was killed in battle during the Canal Drive liberation of Belgian Limburg when the 99th Infantry was attached to the 2nd Armored Division.
A memorial in Geleen, Netherlands (2nd Armored Division) also remembers Movik. Fellow 99th Infantry Battalion soldier, PFC Almklov, is also buried in this same cemetery.
