Opposite Luleå airport: take Kallaxvägen until you get to the F 21 Norrbotten Flygflottilj (Wing) and museum entrance.
MuseumA museum highlighting the Swedish Air Force Norrbotten Wing (F 21) and Swedish volunteer air operations in the Finnish Winter War of 1939-40 and the use of the base by the Allies in WW2. The museum includes a detailed history of the wing and sections describe the OSS “Operation Where and When” (Operation Balchen) during 1944-45 when USAAF C-47s transported Norwegian forces from Sweden to Norway with the support of F21.
Operation Where and When was led by the famed Polar Explorer, Norwegian- American, Bernt Balchen.
The collection at the museum also includes a P-51.
