MS2 Breton was born on May 30, 1933, in Auburn, Maine, to Henry and Alma (Sanson) Breton. He enlisted in the US Navy on April 23, 1953 and was assigned in USS Guam. He married Anita P. St. Cyr in 1961 in Maine. He died on January 17, 1977 in the Liberty launch boat (LCM-6) accident as he was aboard. Their boat struck a freighter and capsized during the USS Trenton and USS Guam visitation in Barcelona, Spain. He had served 23 years in the Navy at the time of his death at age 43. He is now buried in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, Kennebec County, Maine, USA.
