Pilot of the B-25 Mitchell type J serial number 43-4013 that took off from Alesan, Corsica on a mission to bomb the rail lines around Avignon as the lead plane in a flight of six aircraft. France. Shot down by flak at 0918. The aircraft was cut in two. Three crewmembers survived and three were killed. LT Burrhus did not survive the crash. He also has a cenotaph located in Walton Cemetery, Walton, Delaware County, New York.
