On the town's war memorial.  As you are facing the memorial, the plaque is to the left of the center section. 


Plaque
A marble plaque with gold leaf inscription in French honoring the sacrifice of 3 American aviators shot down over the town during the liberation.   The plane the  B-25 Mitchell (43-4013) of the 488th Bomber Squadron, 340th Bomber Group, with a crew of six that took off from Alesan in Corsica and was shot down by flak.  3 crew members survived.

A plaque at the Villeneuve les Avignon Charterhouse remembers Crewman L. J. Capawana who was assisted to freedom with the help of the local Resistance.
