Clyson Elroy Lewis was born on July 30, 1921 in Boothbay Harbor, Lincoln County, Maine. He was the son of Gordon Eldred Lewis and Jessie E. Hart Lewis. He enlisted in the Army on June 27, 1944 at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Machinist and also as Married. Clyson served as a Private, Company C, 18th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Lincoln County, Maine prior to the war. He was Killed in Action on January 18, 1945 in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium, at the age of 32 and is now buried in Highland Cemetery, Edgecomb, Lincoln County, Maine, USA.
