James L. Oliver, Jr. was born on February 14, 1923. He was the son of James Lilburn Oliver and Clara Hayes Oliver. James served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private First Class in Company L, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on January 26, 1945 near Hepschird, Belgium at the age of 21 and is now buried in Mount Zion Church of Christ Cemetery, Paris, Henry County, Tennessee, USA.
