Earnest Leroy McGeathy was born in 1921 in Michigan. He was the son of John Edward McGeachy and Agnes Mae Burnham Ireland. He was inducted into the Army in February 1943 and went overseas in April 1943. Earnest served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on December 21, 1944 in Belgium and is now buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Hombourg, Belgium. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry monument in Bullingen, Belgium and ranked as a Staff Sergeant.
