The site contains several memorials honoring the American aircrew and paratroopers who were killed when their C-47 transport aircraft was shot down during the D-Day airborne operations, while also paying tribute to the courage and contributions of the women who supported the Allied effort in the liberation of Normandy during World War II.

The site is located in a parking lot adjacent to the church in the town of Picauville (Église Saint-Candide de Picauville).Take the N13 NW from Caen to Sainte-Mere-Eglise then the D15 W and turn SE on the D69. The monument is on the N side of the road in the town.
