Plourivo New Cemetery

Description:

The site includes an isolated gravesite of Roberta ‘’Betty’’ (Laurie) Countess de Mauduit, a Scottish-born American who supported local French Resistance and evasion networks for downed Allied pilots, then survived German capture and almost two years captivity in Ravensbuch and Buchenwald Concentration Camps during World War II.

The Plourivo New Cemetery is located approximately 270 meters northwest of Plourivo Town Hall and 200 meters north of the intersection of Route de Pont de Canon, Rue Yves Marie Lagadec, Route de l’Europe, and Place du Bourg. The cemetery entrance is across the street from the Plourivo public primary school (Ecole Primaire Publique) ‘’Betty de Mauduit’’ named in her honor in May 2025.
