Storck Barracks Memorial Park
Description:
The Storck Barracks Memorial Park includes memorials dedicated to the 11th Aviation Brigade units formerly based at Illesheim; fallen U.S. Soldiers who deployed from there for Operations DESERT STORM, ALLIED FORCE, IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM and training missions; and the local U.S. military community. Storck Barracks is named after Colonel Louis J. Storck, a U.S. Military Academy graduate who served as Executive Officer for the 4th Armored Division, Commander of Combat Command A and the 37th Armor Regiment, and S-3 and Commander of the 704th Tank Destroyer Battalion in World War II.

The Storck Barracks Memorial Park is located on the north side of Illesheim Air Base, known as Storck Barracks, in the Landkreis of Neustadt-Bad Windsheim in the Mittelfranken region of Bavaria in Germany. Storck Barracks is northeast of the intersection of roads B13 and B470, about 55 kilometers west of Nürnberg, 200 kilometers northwest of Munich, 140 kilometers northeast of Stuttgart. The memorial site is within the U.S. military base, and access requires a Military ID Card or pre-visit coordination for all visitors without U.S. Military ID card. Source of photo: www.illesheim.de
