The Panthéon is located on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, a historic hill in the Latin Quarter of Paris’s 5th arrondissement. It stands at the center of Place du Panthéon, a broad square surrounded by academic and civic buildings, with the Town Hall of the 5th Arrondissement directly in front and the Lycée Henri-IV just behind it. On its northeastern side is the Saint-Étienne-du-Mont Church, while to the west are the buildings of the Panthéon-Sorbonne University.
