The Anglo American Memorial playing fields were opened in 1954. It serves as the town's memorial to the men of the 65th Fighter Wing of the USAAF who were killed fighting from air bases throughout the area and to the people of Saffron Walden who died during World War II.

Located at the Anglo-American Playing Fields. It is situated on the north side of the town center and is accessed from Catons Lane via Car Park. The memorial is situated in a corner of the Anglo-American playing fields, adjacent to the Bridge End Gardens in Saffron Walden.
