When Lacie S. Woodward was born on January 8, 1881, his father, James, was 49 and his mother, Mary, was 39. He had three brothers and four sisters. He was formerly a farmer boy living near Muldrow before enlisting in California. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company E, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on July 20, 1918 and is now buried in Oise-Aisne American Cemetery, Seringes-et- Nesles, France. He also has a marker in Muldrow Memory Garden, Muldrow, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, USA.
