When Louis Clifford Frederickson was born on January 30, 1899, in Harlan, Iowa, his father, John, was 21 and his mother, Anna, was 21. He had one brother and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on July 20, 1918 in Chateau Thierry, at the age of 19 and is now buried in Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, Shelby County, Iowa, USA.
