Clarence D. Crabtree was born on June 3, 1896 to Lowell B and Emma Crabtree. He enlisted in February, 1916, at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company M, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died of wounds on July 14, 1918 received in action near Cantigny and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as a Private.
