Clifton M. Jordan was born on November 13, 1892 in Ashley County, Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Company L, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was declared "Missing in Action" on July 4, 1918 and is commemorated on Tablets of the Missing, Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France. His name is inscribed on the Buzancy monument as PVT G M JORDAN.
