When Thomas George Shea Uren was born in 1898 in Florence, Wisconsin, his father, Thomas, was 36 and his mother, Maude, was 22. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in Company K, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on May 21, 1918 at the age of 19 and is now buried in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park, Iron Mountain, Dickinson County, Michigan, USA. His name is inscribed on the Cantigny monument as a Private.
