Charles H. Stipe was born in 1896. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stipe. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Mechanic in Supply Company, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. Stipe was killed by a bullet fired from enemy aeroplane which was bombing an American camp. The missile pierced his skull as he slept in his billet at 2 a.m. He died in a hospital few hours later on June 28, 1918 without regaining consciousness. He is now buried in Medora Cemetery, Jersey County, Illinois, USA.
