When Clifford Renville Manchester was born on October 19, 1895, in Newark, New Jersey, his father, George, was 22 and his mother, Kate, was 20. He married Laura May Hill in 1912 in his hometown. They had one child during their marriage. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company A, 1st Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 28, 1918 and is now buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hightstown, Mercer County, New Jersey, USA.
