When Henry Arthur "Harry" McCredie was born on September 3, 1887, in New York City, New York, his father, Samuel, was 20 and his mother, Jennie, was 17. He had four brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Company K, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on May 28, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France. His name is inscribed on the monument as CPL H MCCREDIO.
