When Oliver Julian "Judd" Kendall was born on December 30, 1888, in Naperville, Illinois, his father, Francis, was 35 and his mother, Linnie, was 27. He had two brothers and three sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a First Lieutenant in Company D, 1st Engineer Combat Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. He died on May 25, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France. A cenotaph was built for him in Naperville Cemetery, Naperville, DuPage County, Illinois, USA
