Donald Gregg was born in April 1896, in Bryan, Brazos County, Texas. He was the son of Duard Gregg and Alice Prudence Moody Gregg. He served in the 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, as a Private during World War I.

Pvt Gregg was Killed in Action on May 18, 1918, in France. He is now buried in the Somme American Cemetery and Memorial, Bony, Departement de l'Aisne, Picardie, France.
