When Arthur "Artie" L. Auten was born on August 13, 1892, in Owosso, Michigan, his father, Ora, was 20 and his mother, Electa, was 19. He had one daughter with Viola Blanche Borst in 1918. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion. He was Killed in Action on June 12, 1918 and is now buried in Somme American Cemetery, Bony, France.
