Comments:
Born 28 April 1912 at Ft Sill, OK. West Point class of 1933, commissioned Engineer Corps. Competed in the 1936 summer Olympics in pentathalon, finishing 7/42. Served on the War Department General Staff in WWII, then commanded the 1135th Engineer Combat Group which supported the assault crossing of the Rhine and built bridges across the Danube. Director of Military Applications of the Atomic Energy Commission, and then director of the Defense Communications Agency. After retiring from the Army in 1971, he directed DOD's Office of Testing and Evaluation and then served in the Department of Energy. Died on 28 July 1983 at 71 years of age in Washington DC.
