Comments:

When Howard Lewis "Buddy" Lambert, Jr. was born on April 23, 1920, his father, Howard, was 30 and his mother, Hildreth, was 27. He had one son with Melissa Helen Harer. He was a January 1943 graduate of the United Stated Military Academy.

While leading a mission into enemy territory, his P-15 was badly crippled and chose to return as far as his ship would go. When nearly friends shores on the Channel, his engine died. Parachuting into the icy waters of the Channel, his wingman called Air Sea Rescue and circled the position until forced to leave with his fuel dangerously low. The rescue ship found no trace of Captain Lambert upon at the scene.

Howard was declared "Missing In Action" over the North Sea during the war. He was awarded the "Distinguished Flying Cross", Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Purple Heart.

He also has a marker at Druid Ridge Cemetery, Pikesville, Baltimore County, Maryland, USA.
