Michael Louis Manzolillo was born on June 7, 1916, in Kings County, New York. He was the son of Anthony Manzolillo and Carmela Mildred Calvello Manzolillo. He was married to Evelyn Manzolillo. He registered for the Selective Service on October 16, 1940, in Brooklyn, and enlisted in the U.S. Army on November 27, 1942, in Kings County, New York. He attained the rank of Corporal and served with Battery B, 203rd Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion, 7th Armored Division. During the Allied advance through France, his unit was responsible for protecting vital crossings and installations from enemy aircraft.

On August 24, 1944, while guarding the temporary Tilly Treadway Bridge near Saint-Fargeau-Ponthierry, France, Corporal Manzolillo was killed in action when his battery came under German artillery fire. He is now buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York, USA.
