Born by Westby, Wisconsin Worked for Inland Steel Co. after graduating high school. Branched into Field Artillery when first joining the Army, and then transferred to the Air Corps. Then completed pilot training in Corsicana, Texas. Part of MACR #745 Co-Pilot for the B-17 42-30646 when it was shot down on 4 October 1943. Taken POW after parachuting into Weisbaum. Remained under German captivity until 12 June 1945 when his prisoner camp was liberated by General Patton. During his time as a POW he was placed in Sagan, Nurnberg, Mooseberg. Had four children, Barbara Nortman, David Larson, Suzie Holmstead, and Jim Larson, with his wife Mary. Worked as a manager of Jackson Electric until retiring in 1979.
