1st Lt Warren E. Semple, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John W Semple, graduated from Norwalk High School (CT) and attended the Pace Institute, NY. He enlisted on 21 March 1941. He married Billie J. Goode of Modesto, CA on 20 May 1943 in Yuma, AZ. He served as a fighter pilot with the 49th Fighter Squadron, 14th Fighter Group and was shot down and killed over Orange, France, during a dogfight while trying to strafe the local German airfield. He flew out of Triolo, Italy with 11 other fighters in the mission. He is also honored on a plaque outside the Norwalk, CT (his home town) city hall, honoring the city's war victims.
