James Starling Isbell was born on October 7, 1918 in Jasper, Walker County, Alabama. He was the son of James Anderson Isbell and Laura Elizabeth Ramey Isbell. James served in the Ordnance department of the 5th Engineer Special Brigade as a Private during World War II. He was Killed in Action on June 6, 1944 at the age of 25 in Omaha Beach, France and is now buried in Mobile National Cemetery, Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama, USA.
