John Morris Chase was born on November 14, 1923 in Talmage, Dickinson County, Kansas. He was the son of David G. Chase and Lurah Myrtle Haynes Chase. John served in the 6th Naval Beach Battalion as a Signalman 3rd Class Petty officer during World War II. He died on June 8, 1944 at the age of 20 at Omaha beach on D-day and is now buried in the Abilene Cemetery, Abilene, Dickinson County, Kansas, USA.
