2nd Lt Paul R. Packer, navigator of the B-17 42-31325, took off from station 142 in Deopham Green, Norfolk, UK on a bombing mission over Frankfurt. Shortly after bombs away, the plane was hit by flak and came under attack from German Fw-190 fighters.
