Sgt Jerome A. Folgeman, mechanic of the B-17 42-97137 “Silver Queen”, took off from station 130 in Glatton, Cambridgeshire, UK on a bombing mission over the V1 site of Gorenflos. The plane was hit by flak between the belly turret and radio station. It crashed at 1850, killing all but two crew members. Sgt Folgeman made it out but was later captured and sent to Stalag 17B in Braunau, Gneikendorf.
